Temperature guage no longer working...

My temperature guage is currently not working. It rests at below the coldest level (sitting on the pin). What may be the problem? How can I correct it?

Applies to a 1990 SE.

Thanks.

Could be several things

I'll start from the easiest to the hardest
1)Wire came off the temp sender
2)Sendor no longer working
3)Gauge no longer working
4)Broken circuit between the sender and gauge

Fixes for the above
1)Re-install wire, easy fix
2)Find temp gauge sender (it has a one wire harness connected to it) disconnect wire from sender, with the ignition in on position take a jumper wire from the single wire harness to chassis ground. Did the temp gauge max out to hot, your sender is bad. If not, your gauge or circuit could be bad.
3)As as #2
4)Hopefully it's not this

Don't ask me where the temp sender could be becasue I don't know, sorry.
