May be buying a VE 5-speed, need a little advice
Hey,
I test drove a 1992 SE 5-speed today. The body and interior are mint, the engine has a little VTC tick (but they guy said he could get them rebuilt for $500). I tested the power valve for the variable intake and it *appeared* not to work (rev'd it to 5k in neutral, the switch didn't move at all). It has 76k miles, one owner. He wants $3500 for it with the VTCs already rebuilt. My current 92SE auto has 136k. What do you suggest I try to negotiate for? The clutch is fine. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would say that's a bargain. Especially with the low miles and the fact that the guy has taken reasonably good care of it. With any car that is not brand new, you are going to have to expect little things to go wrong anyway.
This reminds me of how idiotic people who have Hondas are. $3500? What Honda with 76k miles can you buy for that? Maybe a 92 Civic with roll up windows, 116 hp and no air conditioning. Not to mention no moonroof, power locks, cruise, LSD, power antenna, etc...
Even with some of the little faults, Maximas are just about the best buy for the buck.
