Is the Hood Open, or has this been in a wreck?

I think its just because of the shade... but does the car in the following picture just have its hood open, or does anyone think it has some damage?

edit: you might have to click on this link first.

Thanks,

Hard to tell, it looks open but if you look at the right side it's raised higher then the left side. So I'd say maybe a little damage.

You thinking of buying it? Or is it yours?

My sister showed it to me. She's been trying to get a 3rd gen for a few weeks now and none of them caught my eye. Then she printed out this one and it didnt look too good in the pic. She showed me it on a computer down stairs and it looked like it was in a wreck, but then on my comp it looks like it could just be the shading and the hood open.

It almost doesnt look like a 3rd gen in the pic.

My vote is that the hood is open. Looks dirty, but might be in good shape. The only thing is, I wonder if a VE would be ideal for your sister. They are pretty finicky.

since it's in the autotrader and they didn't even bother to clean the car or take a decent photo of it, I would imagine the owners are probably kind of lazy (especially with things like regular maintenance) I would also guess it needs work besides whatever damage might have been done to the hood. The price would have to be pretty low for me to buy it. In the end though, all used cars are a gamble...

just my 2 cents.

Great points guys. Normally things I tend to look over.

As for VE's, my 93 SE was my first car, and I know tons about the engines. I've been out of the swing of things for 10 months now, but it doesnt take much to get back in.

it only has 97k on it, and they are asking $3000. I am pretty sure it is cloth, but thats ok. My favorite colors for the 3rd gens are Black, Red and Dark Blue, but white looks very clean aswell. I just think they show the lines the most. My old one used to be black btw.

Also I have an engine almost completely apart (almost because the pistons are still connected to the connecting rods ) in my garage. I already know I'll be doing all the work on it

Its about 50 miles away, I'm going to call them tommarrow but I keep having to tell my sister to shut up and not get so excited about the car (I used to do it, still do ).

I say get her a 91 se.... since they look pretty much the same i don't think she would notice the difference. she'd be driving around in a vg thinking it was a ve (shes kinda nieve that way). Just edit the autotrader printout on p-shop and she'll never know the difference. Plus, I wouldn't want her to have a better car than I...

If I can get her into a VE, I'm gonna do it Besides its red

Trust me, she's picked up alot from me about cars, esp. Maxima's. But still has alot more to learn (if she wants).

There isnt anything wrong with VG's, hell, after riding in yours I was about to go buy one, but its just something about the VE that gets me, probably its ****ed off sound

Aside from that, I have a spare VE in the garage, It would be nice to put it into something. If there is a car at my house that has the ability to take it, well it would make me build it up and maybe even invest in a welder and some mandrel bends

I hope it works, but I doubt it will

The simple answer was to throw the picture into Photoshop and pump up the brightmess and contrast. Even without doing so you could tell that there couldn't be much damage just by looking at the unbroken headlight and foglamp. After adjustment, you can see that there is no damage to any panel in that 3/4 view. The hood is open the same amount across the entire lip. There may be some damage on the right side of the car, but it can't be much.

I probably would have, except I dont have photoshop installed right now, courtesy of a recent format because of the ****ty boot master partition.
