Horror Story

Ok, yesterday I had the day off, so I figure this is the best time to change my belts (since the previous owner didn't and my Max has a 158k on the originals). So I get started and get the two front belts off, but when I get to the last belt (power steering) the mounting bolt that tightens up the idler pulley is bent in the shape of an L. (The previous owner ran over something on the passenger side, when I bought the car I had to replace that strut mount and fog light, so I guess he hit something harder than I had origianlly thought.) So, I spent 3 to 4 hours yesterday driving aroung town trying to find a bolt to replace it. I went to Lowe's, the nissan dealership, pepboys, o'rielys, Napa, and Ace hardware. No one had one so I had to temporarly fix the car until I could go to the Nissan Dealership (again) and buy the whole pulley and tenesioner set. Cost me $52.00.

$52 is not too bad, you drove all over and wated more money looking for the stupid bolt. But, good job on the repair!

The SE has belts? I thought it only has a chain that never needs to be replaced.

Um yeah. Try not to bring up threads from 2003 just to make some small comment.

Accessory belts are different from timing belts. All cars have one or more accessory belts. As for the timing belt, '92 thru '94 SE (VE30DE) cars have timing chains. All others, '89 thru '91 SE and '89 thru '94 GXE (VG30E), have timing belts.
