hey everyone, When I put the car into any of the gears it doesnt move at all but the car turns on and everything else works fine. Can this be the trans or something minor like wireing. I just dont want to pay 100 to tow it and the guy tells me $2000 for a new trans or used. i dont know if it is worth it on a 91 max with 150K on it. Thanks everyone

 

i'm going to assume you have an auto.

if you moved it to R/D/2/1 and still nothing..yeah it's a good indication there's something SERIOUSLY wrong w/ the car.

 

not sure if this helps but the car manual says
this is accorrding to a 93 manual auto trans
section 4 page 9 under fail safe, turn key to on position
check power switch on console if it blinks for 8 seconds
after being on for 2seconds this means trans is locked in third
gear, to fix turn key to off position wait 3seconds,turn key
to on position hope this helps

 

has the tranny ever slipped before or did this happen at once with no warning

 

the trans has never slipped before but once in a while i will have to lock the gear into park by pushing the shifter up alittle. other then that i will have to try this manual thing see if that works.

 

xl max03lx in my 89max auto trans when i put it
drive sometimes it doesn't go into gear so by pulling back
on the ****er whiles its still in the D position puts it in
gear , had this problem since i bought the car, trans still works
fine , but sometimes i turn the key to start the car and nothing
happens, so itakev the shifter out of park and put it right back
into park and then turn the key and car starts right up, have no
idea why but car runs fine anyway
