A/C Compressor Kicks In And Out
A/C Compressor Kicks In And Out
Well, I'm new here and new with having a '93 Maxima. I'm really liking this car alot. However, the A/C is leaving me to frown. It works wonderful as long as the compressor stays on. Unfortunately it cycles on and off. Sometimes it runs for about 1 minute then it will turn off for a minute and kick right back in. It does the same at idle or high rpms. Had my friend put the pressure gauges on it and the pressure looked good. We topped off the freon with a can of r134a. While we was investigating we noticed the condensor was not the same temp at the bottom as it was at the top. Very hot at top and actually cool towards the lower half. We thought the condensor could be choked up causes the compressor to cycle like it does. Also, should not the high pressure lines along the firewall be warm or hot to the touch? Its not on mine, more luke warm. I've read on here some posts about the "Expansion" valve causing this too..and I hope that isn't the case with mine because I'm not looking forward to tearing into my dash to get to it.
Any thoughts, suggestions of anyone who has had simliar experiences and fixes would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance,
Gary
