m/t squeak: please advise

ok i have a little squeaking sound (really short) whenever i

a) start moving in first or reverse
b) let the clutch go after shifting
c) floor it in a low gear

i had my car into the dealer to have a new fuel filter and plugs put in (no flaming -- i'm too busy to do it myself these days) and i told them about the noise. i'm assuming they drove it but they didn't tell me it was anything serious. i also picked up a k&n filter today, and with the new plugs and filters the engine seems a little peppier. this has only made the tranny squeak worse. and it feels like i'm not really getting all of the power the enging is making.

someone suggested i have a bad bearing. would that explain my power loss as well? or is that just a slippy clutch or are they related?

any input would be really appreciated, i have to drive to nyc next week (nine hours) and i don't want to set myself up for disaster.

thanks

not a belt, definitely clutch-related. belt would squeak on startup or all the time.

I have this same problem, but mine only does it when starting off in reverse. Im curious to know what this is, it sounds like it might be coming from my driver-side wheel area. I probably wont bother with it unless its an emergency, since its not a constant noise.

it seems like the clutch is slipping ever so slightly. so maybe they have something to do w/each other.

it's definitely a tranny/clutch problem. probably something with the clutch specifically, because if it were the transmission, it would be making the noise all the time. same with the c/v joints, calipers, belts, whatever.

for practical purposes, it only make the noise when i first re-engage after shifting gears.
