There's actually a wire that you need to tap into to disable the factory anti-theft system. According to what I've got here, the disarm wire is Green/Black, requires a negative(-) pulse, and is located at the anti-theft module just to the left of the steering column. If your alarm has a wire that provides a negative pulse on disarm, you can use that. Or you can use your unlock wire from the alarm system and run a relay off that or tap directly from that. Depends on what system you've got. And while I'm sure I should've directed you to go to the Audio and Electronics forum for this answer, I just felt compelled to tell you.

Thanks for playing...

Now WHY in the name of all that's holy would you want to do a fool thing as THAT?

If you put you own system in and need some help with it, PM me and tell me what kind you've got and I can probably give you DETAILED help.

My factory alarm was "disabled" when my aftermarket alarm was installed but once every three months or so the factory alarm goes off, but i just unlock the passenger door and it stops. I realize this probably doesn't help much, just wanted to add my two cents.

Pest2001, take your car back to BB and have them rig it up to arm/disarm the factory alarm when you arm/disarm the new one. The morons at the place I went to screwed this up too. Otherwise opening the trunk or hood will not set off the alarm since I doubt they took the time to probe those input wires.

And maxinmaxima, the reason yours is likely going off every now and then is that you're locking your door manually which sets the factory alarm and then setting the new alarm. Happened to me as well. Get that sucker fixed!
