Changed injectors, now car has trouble starting??

My friend (a mechanic) changed the fuel injectors with me. But now the car is having troublew starting! I have to hold the key for like 30s to get it to start, where as before it would start instantaneously, becuase I had to have the wires running off the battery replaced. And idea what would be causing this, or what to look for? The battery terminals are clean...

is the engine turning over or not? if it's turning over quickly, then it's not the battery... it's something in the fuel system.
were the injectors new?
how's fuel pressure?
get everything hooked back up right?

Yeah, it tries (chu-uu-u-uu-... chu-u-u-uu-, ch-u-u-u--rrrr!!) and eventually gets on, sometimes taking alot longer than others. The car is drivable, I assume everything is put back together, but yeah, I think there is a very strong fuel smell coming from the exhaust.
The injectors were brand new, one had been replaced months ago, the rest all got replaced now. All are pink.
My friend said to run a couple times of octane booster or injector cleaner the first couple fill-ups, but the gas is lasting alot longer, even with me driving harder, so my second fill up will be today or tommorrow.
(also, I am worried, the fuel line comming off the black fuel filter's screw came off, so now it's sitting down where it's not supposed to, against the throttle body. I showed my friend, he put something there to keep it from touching the engine, but we're going to have to take it apart and screw it back in place on saturday of monday...)
What does the strong fuel smell mean?

It means your mechanic botched the job, and one or more o-rings are cut. The fact that its hard to start could be a bad connector on the injector, or another connector could be messed up.

SO one or more of the O-rings could definatly be cut? IS there anything else that might cause it that could have happened when replacing the injectors?

YUP!!! I had to go back in and replace pinched O-rings twice after I did my injector job...on the second try I seriously vasoline'd them down and very meticulously, took them back to the shop and my mechanic slid them in...we held our breath and it started up and no chugging or fuel spraying out of the muffler definently sounds like pinched rings or improper seating.

That would cause the car to have trouble starting up and the fuel smell? Crud, thats going to take more time... I paid my friend $100 to help me with it, but I'm not sure if I should ask him again to help replace the o-rings...
Is there a way to make sure that the o-rings are properly installed, or make sure next time they are, or check the seating?
Like a way to, if I'm able to get them replaced again to make sure it will definatly be good? Or just pay the nissan mechanic $230 for him to do it?

Think I should pay the mechanics $200 and have them replace the O-rings, or do you think I should ask my friend if we should do them? Will it ruin or be bad for anything if I don't get them corrected? Is that the only or most likely problem?

in other words, is there an easy way to look and see the o-rings, whether they are the problem or not, when we have it opened? And will really vaselining them up next time ensure it would work?

Ok, this is my last "bump" for this thread. In no one can think of any other advice besides trying again and again, then I'll get a quote from the mechanic.
Thanks, now I have an idea of what it might be
