I bought a 1990 Maxima SE about three weeks ago. the factory radio was not working but now it began working about two days ago. My problem is that my Bose door speakers do not work. only the two in the back were working. This morning I noticed that I was only getting sound from one of back speakers and the other was dead. My question to everyone is: could all these speakers be fine but just need to be rewired or are they all finished and have to be replaced. If I have to replace them how much will it cost to replace them all door and back. Do I have to get bose speakers or could I put some other speakers in the back and door like some Xplod's or something. Will Xplod's fit? Somebody please help?

Usually the no sound condition in 3rd gen. max's w/ Bose is caused by the amps dying. You cannot replace just the amps with aftermarket because the speakers will fry your amp. The only way to replace Bose speakers with aftermarket speakers is to either rip out everything or to get a preout voltage converter and a 4 ch. amp for the speakers. Bose speakers are 1 ohm, and they draw tons of power from an amp that is designed to take that 1 ohm load. Replacing your Bose speakers with aftermarket 4 ohm speakers will cause your stereo to be VERY quiet. If you decide to replace the BOSE speakers and amps with OEM Bose(usually it is the amps that are actually bad) you may want to check out http://www.davescoolstuff.com for good prices and service. Good luck....

cheapest way is to...

buy antenna harness and replce the stereo with like a 100$ alpine off ebay, this will let you change the speakers at will but I would say the front speakers and radio was taken out before you bought it and they just threw the old radio and speakers back in not remembering to re connect the amps to the speakers in the front door also my speakers are running at 2 ohms not one but that is not to say that they could be in parrallel which will make 1 ohm, good luck
