ftsb/AC hose question
ftsb/AC hose question
I got around to putting on my ebay ftsb on last night and I must say I could definitely tell a difference. tighter cornering even just in town...nice. did anyone feel a big difference like me? I just have stock susp., maybe thats why it tightened it up so much?
Anyway my real ?, I unclipped the ac hose so the bar would fit. i just left the hose un-clipped and it just rests against the bar now. Is that ok, or is it bad for the ac? TIA.

Mine is the same and we probably have the same FSTB.
Mine is tight and in about three months of use, it hasn't rubbed anything noticeable. But you (and me) should keep an eye on it. I am probably going to put some kind of additional stuff to surround the hose, just in case.

ya after having my ftsb sitting under my bed for months i finally put it on a few days ago and it definately feels alot better. less body roll it seems which makes sense. makes me wanna get better suspension and rsb and fsb. but i have to find out if a max with electronic suspension can have all that done to it....
anyone got a clue?
anyone got a clue?
heres a thought for the ac hose.. someone back me up. you remember those foam cylinders that used to come on our bicycles? they went on the frame and on the support bar inbetween the handle bars.. maybe you could get sme of that material. cut a small section and place it over the hose.
this way, if they ever do touch, it will be protected.
on the otherhand, maybe you cant let anything touch that hose.. so best to wait for someone to backup my statement befroe you go doing anything.
walka

That's a good idea, but I think I need something thinner, since the ac hose is near the end of its travel. I don't want to put a kink in it. I am sure I can find something, but I'll wait until it makes a visible rub mark in the existing foam. Actually, I should just buy the right FSTB off of ebay so that it clears the hose
Which FSTB is the right one?
I bought a generic FSTB off of eBay that is for the 5th Gen maxima and it barely touches the AC hose. I wrapped a little extra padding around the AC hose when I installed the FSTB. I don't think it is a problem, but I would buy another FSTB if I knew it wouldn't touch the AC hose at all.
I've never seen a FSTB that is currently in production for the VE motor on the 92-94 maximas. But I have seen pics and read stories of people who have a 5th Gen FTSB installed and the bar does not contact the AC hose. I believe they bought it off eBay. If anyone has got a FSTB from eBay and it does not touch the AC hose, please list the seller or link to the auction you got it from.
I know this has been discussed before but I don't believe I've ever seen a link or a sellers name that provided the FSTB.
Here is a link to the FSTB I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2420871758

the right one is the one with the straight up bracket and not the cruved one like you have listed.
I have the Otto from procarparts (got off of ebay though) and it is perfect.
here are some pics.
Clearance issues are for VE only. If you look at the FSTB that tool has a link to, you will notice the left side connects lower than the right side. The otto bar awsm66 put on his car has BOTH sides raised the same height. The one I bought is like tool's and is really designed for a 5th gen max.

Actually, ANY 92+ car will have a problem with that AC hose, even GXE models, because the hose is mounted the same way on all models from '92 up. The high VE intake manifold is just an extra problem.

Like Bman said the hose problem is with all cars. I put my old bar (just like the one in tools pic) on my 92 GXE and it hit the hose...the hose on the 92 was able to move more though so it doesnt touch now.
the problem with the VG bars not fitting the VE is because of the plenum. If you look at the old VG bars they are straight instead of curved and that would hit the intake plenum on the VE BUT they had the straight up brackets like I have so it didnt hit the hose.
