Engine mounts... question for those who have done it
Hi all, I'm new to the forums =p
I have done a search and found that my recent problems with my 93 auto VG requires replacement of the front engine mount.
I've also tried to find installation information in my Chilton's manual but have come up short.
Symptoms:
1) Front end of the engine hops up when in drive
2) Transmission doesn't engage into gears well when driven hard for >15min.
First guess at solution:
1) Replace front engine mount to fix symptom #1
Questions:
1) Are there a total of 4 mounts for my engine? At what positions? i.e. 2, 4, 8, and 10 o'clock
2) Does this transmission problem sound like it's related to the engine mount problem? I am guessing that the upward displacement of the engine may directly be causing some sort of disconnect from the flywheel to the transmission or something... does anyone have any ideas?

I think there are 3 mounts and a tranny mount.
And to anybody who responds, I'm getting my mounts done Saturday. I basically have the same symptons as the guy above. I was planning on changing all of the mounts but should I just replace the front mount?

4 mounts in total
2 engine
2 tranny
engine mounts are on the cross member...stand in front of the car you'll have one that's below and to the left of the exhaust manifold and the back one is right below the rear manifold.
tranny mounts..
front is right below the charcoal canister
rear is right below the brake booster/master cyl

At partsamerica.com they have the mounts listed as:
engine mount
front
rear right
rear left
Tranny mount.
Why do they have three engine mounts listed?

i'm going to take a guess and say that they might not have the rear one so they leave that out.
front gets the majority of the grunt since when you acclerate the front lifts and once if you're off the gas the engine slams down.
the rear left and right sound like the tranny mounts.
if you want i can take pics of the 4 mounts for clarification.
