which is the best size wheels to fit the 3rd gen max?
17x7
17x7.5
17x8

and what would be the best size tire to go with that wheel?

imho: 17/7.5 is the way to go with a 235/45/17 tire.

no, it'll fit fine IF you get the correct offset.
