Lowering wiht just springs.

If I lower my car, by just swapping the springs, and I don't change the shocks or anything else am I going to do any damage to my car? is it necessary to swap everything, or at least swap it all at once? any experiences, set-up examples would be appreciated, thank

Just wait and do the struts along witht the springs. If you go aftermarket springs then they will wear heavily on your oem struts and they will likely blow. If you swap just springs and then want to get struts later, you will wish you did i tall at once especially if you are paying someone to do it! I have sprints and KYB's but should have held out for the Koni's and gotten eibachs!

I would first check to see if my shocks need replacing too. Thats going to give u a better ride if u do all at the same time, plus no extra labour when u do need to replace them I had the orginal shocks on my car b4 I swapped them(168,000 kms)! Thats dangerous!!!! The dealership never changed them. How old r ure shocks?

"How old are my shocks?" that's a good question, probably very, very old, don't know when/if they were changed ever. So the springs and shocks is all I need to replace?

I would change the shoxes too cuz they're such biatch to take off depending on lucky you get during the process, esp, if you got no rust encounter.

And if the struts are still in great condition, then you might as well wait til it goes out and then do it at once. But waiting for it to go out can be a painful process cuz by then you might have already sold your car. So, I'll leave that up to you to decide. However, if you were really going to do it, make sure you check out www.harborfreight.com for a Pittsburgh spring compressors kit, they're only $10. I wished I had known harborfreight before donated $40 to the buttheads at the local store.....those bastards got no returns policy. Arrhh....all well, no needs to cry over spoiled milk.

Find out b4 u change the springs. Mine were the orginal shocks & when the guy took my shcok off my car, it feel apart. Thats how bad they were. I'm soo glad I replace everything at the saem time. My car rides sssooooo much better It will save u lots of money if u do it all together.

I'm pretty much where you're at in that regard, Kev. Although I'm VERY satisfied with the ST struts, I wish I'd have gotten something other than Sprint springs, as my car is so low, I have to put my car on a lift just to do a routine oil change.

Definately save yourself the heart ache and do both struts & springs in one shot.

Autozone sells an oil pan thats just 3in. high ($1.99)and it fit under the car easily, no lifting.
