headlight not workin properly

hey guess....i got a problem with my headlights. everynight for the past couple days now, i noticed my driver light was out, upon openin the hood...i touch the wiring an it lit back up an was workin again, but now i havta do that everynight. it seems like its towards the back of the bulb..the harness, could it be loose? i do have apc hyper white bulbs in there, could that be the cause????
anybody have a similar problem or a way to fix this...gettin very annoying!!!
thanks

sounds like a burnt harness...take the bulb off and look at the electrical connector, if it doesn't look normal(burnt, charred, etc.) than you'll need a new one

what wattage were the APC bulbs?

heh, that dude who sold them to you is an idiot, people do anything to sell products. any bulb higher than the stock wattage usually destroys the harnesses on these cars.

putting on a new harness is pretty simple...they are like $8 at Nissan and you just cut off the old one and re-wire in the new...3 wires thats it.

yet again i have to recommend Sylvania Silverstars. uses stock wattage so it won't burn your harness and puts out nice white light.

Re-wire with thicker wires if your goin to use higher wattage bulbs.

i have a headlight issue too. since i'm not allowed to post a new thread until i've replied to 15 posts i'm going to have to tack it onto the end of your thread. i'm almost certain the DTRL (day time running light) module is toast. none of the running lights come on, neither low beam, and only the passenger high beam is working now. used to be that the left headlight would be on with running lights, then would go off and right headlight would come on with low and high beams. all fuses check out. swapped bulbs with no difference. haven't checked voltage at the plugs yet but both are fed from the DTRL module and since the bulb swap made no difference i doubt there's power getting to the driver's side headlight plug. the DTRL module is a pricey enough part that i'm looking for a way to bypass it. i figure that since the 3rd gen maximas in the states didn't have DTRL there must be a way around it. i've tried removing the module, but no difference. i've seen references on later models to removing a fuse, but i don't think there's a DTRL specific fuse on the 3rd gen. any input is appreciated. sorry for the threadjack, though i think you pretty much had your question resolved.

Canadian ones do... it's a 92 SE. the running lights are temporarily working again, but neither lowbeam and 1 high beam still don't work. i'm sure jumpering some of the wires going into the control unit will disable the DTRL but i don't want to accidently connect the wrong 2 and fry the ECU
