'89 Max
'89 Max
Maxes,
My friend has a '89 Max, and here's his problem. If he leaves the battery connected, his car won't start the next day. If he disconnects the battery, he can start her right up. She'll even start up if he leaves it disconnected for upto 1 week. Its just whenever he leaves the battery connected, that she won't start, even after a few hours. I know little about this, so I'm hoping here someone can help. I searched under "alternator" but couldn't find anything like this. It seems that somehow, the battery is being drained?? ANy ideas? Thanks!
Regards,
ShysMax

Try this.
1) Get a volt meter.
2) Remove the neg battery cable from the battery.
3) Conect it between the neg battery terninal and the neg cable.
4) If it show +12volts. You have a drain.
5) Open the drivers door and somehow hold the light button close.
6) Watch the volt meter and start to pull out fuese one at a time.
7) When the meter goes to "0" you've found the drain. Replace the other fuses. Make sure the meter is still "0".
8) Reconnect the battery and see if it ok the next day.
9) You'll have to trace the circut to find out what's wrong.
This is a real basic way to check for battery drain. You may need to go deeper into it if you can't find the problem.
