4 Banger Max!!

My car started stuttering, (perhapse shaking is a better word to describe it) a few days ago.
at first i thought my spark plugs were the prob, so i bought new bosch plugs and replaced the old ones.
as i was turning on the car it stuttered again with the new plugs, so i tested the car and found that 2 cylinders were not functioning.

i have no clue what tha hell is going on! but i guess that means im driving a 4banger now!!

please HELP!!

ok heres what to do.

find the 2 cylinders that arent working, and swap the coils with cylinders that do work. If the two dead cylinders start working, and the two that were working stopped, then you have coil problems. If the 2 cylinders that weren't working origonally still arent, then you have bad injectors.

VG also has just one coil - not six like the VE. '89 SE, right? So VG engine.

Sounds like the problem I was having. It first started with the Check Engine light coming intermittantly and at the same time the car would be rough / shakey especially at idle. But it wasn't consistant, problem would go away until finally it became consistant. I pulled each of the plug wires one-by-one and found pulling #5 had no effect. Pulled each spark plug and tested for spark which was o.k. then did compression check on each cylinder, also o.k. Everything pointed to the injector. I pulled the injectors, tested resistance and pulsed them with 12v and verified #5 was bad and #4 was borderline bad. I guess I'll know for sure next week if this solves the problem which I'm pretty confident it will. But I would suggest the spark test and compression check to narrow it down..

umm, check your injectors.. you don't have coils. most likely you've got a couple bad or clogged injectors.
