Squealing just after startup

This morning when I leaving for School (When most of my car troubles happen) I started up my car and it started to squeal, like a slipping belt, for the whole time that I backed out of my garage and untill I shut the car off and looked under the hood, When I started it again it didnt squeal. This has happened to me a few times now, when the car was dry and sometimes when it was wet. I Think It is probably just a slipping belt and I should either get some new ones or some belt dressing but I was wondering if it could be a worn out bearing in the water pump?(I have no idea when it was replaced but I assume it was a while ago) What else could it be?

try bliping the gas when it happens, alot of times that will stop a slipping belt. check the ammount of play the belts have, then tighten them if needed, or replace them.

yea i agree it sounds like a slipping belt. check the tension on each and tighten as necissary. make sure nothings leaking on them also. after the car sits overnight open the hood before you start it and check the belts. also check the ground and see if anything leaked. You can put white cardboard under the car overnight and you will see if it leaked or not.

If the belts look good you could have a bad bearing in one of the idlers. I've changed a bunch of them.
If it is the idler bearing you can just change the bearing, cost less than the whole thing from the dealer.

I would think the last thing one would want to do immediately after a cold start, is blip the gas.

I would try the other alternatives first before blipping or revving the engine on a cold start.

try spraying some "belt dressing" if the noise goes away change the belt otherwise start diagnosing.

FYI permatex part # 120GA/DA or 80074/3
