5speed problems

all the gears shift fine and all that good stuff till i try to go into 5th gear....if i try to shift into 5th just normally and then let out on the clutch i will hear a grinding. Not like the grinding when you try to put the tranny into gear w/o the clutch. it doesn't sound that bad. but then if i shift hard into 5th, 95% it will go in w/ no problems. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Cole

I had the same problem, it only did it at higher RPM's, but it ended up being a snycro. Probably pretty close to rebuild time.

I've heard a lot of good things about Lucas. Do you think that could help any in this situation?

Depends on how cheap you can get a used one for. My pops is a "transmission specialist" so I had him rebuild mine. Sounds about like the same problem i had, bout $180 in bearings and a syncro. However, I just bought a used VE tranny with 70k on it for $150, my "transmission specialist" appearantly forgot somthin, cuz it got stuck in reverse and I had to drive it clear across town backwards at 2 in the morning with tinted windows. im a say get a used one. But if you want, ill sell you the bearings out of mine. Probably no more then 300 miles on them.
