Thrid gen paradise
Thrid gen paradise
I live in Conroe TX, just abot 40 miles north of houston. Im in college right now and i drive my 92 GXE everywhere.
Well, it seems that at my skool, im not the only one who drives a third gen. One day, as i was walking to class, i counted how many 3rd gens i could see in the parking lot that i was in. (there are like 5 different ones) i easily counted 6. most of which being SE's. god knows how many there are all together, and this is only on a tuesday/thursday sched.
I believe that this is a testament to the 3rd gen, as they are at least 10 yrs old, and there are still this many in existence (owned by teens too). In my town i see way more 3rd gens than any others.
Is there anyone who lives near me on this board? and is there anyone who has noticed the smae thing in their area?

I'm on the other side of Houston, and don't see a ton of 3rd gens around here. when I was going to University of Tulsa, the parking lot I parked in held about 100 cars and at least 8 of them were 3rd gens. one of 'em was even had the funky UK spec grille on it.
they're around high schools and college campuses a lot because they're quick, reliable, nice, and CHEAP. hondas still hold a lot more value, but the maximas are more luxurious cars, so college kids who are broke buy maximas to tool around in.

Maybe its just coz im at community college. But im serious, there must be like 200 spaces in each lot. i think im gonna have to get some maxima.org stickers to advertise.
Actually, i see a bunch of fifth gens too, but that prolly coz its a rich town where the college is at

Around where I live (lex, ky) Maximas of all generations are popular- I'd have to say 4th,3rd, 5th, 2nd in order.. the cool thing (maybe not
) is that the worst 3rd I've seen has to be my beater 89, lol... cuz I spend all of my money on my 93
. All of the 3rd gens look in pretty good shape- the body seems to be pretty rust resistant, and I haven't seen any with wood wedged in the back window like my 89 either, despite the statistical improbability

Theres like 6 3rd gen maximas on the street my bro lives on, also there are 3 4th gens, a 5th gen, 2 sentras, a pathfinder, a 300zx, and a modded WRX(its like nissan heaven there, cept for the WRX but thats cool too) So 4 of those 3rd gens were 5spds, 2 were autos, 3 were SEs(2 sticks and 1 auto)
Ninety-two-se almost listed off all of the Nissans I've owned: (2) 92 Max SEs, 95 Nissan Pathfinder, 95 200SX, 94 Nissan 4x4, 72 Datsun 510 and an Infiniti QX4. I guess I am Nissan obsessed, too.
I have the only 3rd Gen VE I've seen in my town (pop. apx. 12,000). I've seen one VG SE (maroon) and a handful of ill-cared for GXEs. There are lots of 5th Gen SEs around, but not much else that I've seen. There's one high schooler that has a nice 240sx, but he wrecked it last weekend. Other than that, there isn't much Nissan activity here.
I just like to see what else is out there. I live in a small town and all I see are Mustangs, Accords, Civics, CRXs and several dopey Neons.

Where I'm at, there's only me and Nozama with 3rd gens that I actually notice. But I did see a black GXE for sale the other day... Now this is a college town with a population somewhere in the 40-50k range.
In my lowly town of 17k "permenent" residents, plus about 4000 college students at Truman State, there are about 9 third gens..mine is the only GXE however..but it is the 2nd best looking 3rd gen, not counting the cracked windshield and electrical tape holding my rear left window up until I replace the regulator...2 or 3 others are driven by people in their 20s and younger, the rest are driven by people that think going 1 mph over the speed limit is evil and that all speeders should be subject to capital punishment..all of them are mostly stock (performance/cosmetic wise) except for one that has 2% tints on the back glass, 5% on the rear side, and 15% on the front side (most definitely NOT legal)..

read some of the midwest/texas threads in that forum. lotsa stuff posted there about it.
in LA i see all gens. they are everywhere and in various states of preservation and/or deterioration. i see way more modded 4 gens than 3rd, however. and the 4ths are almost always in great shape. the 3rds are hit and miss. some look like ****, honestly. and the ones that are nice are often (not always) driven by older people. i also see A$$LOADS of 2nd gens. almost as much of those as 3rd. 2nd gens remind me of the old DR30 skyline.
I live in lex ky as well. Do you attend UK or LCC?
I see about 5 or more 3rd gens on campus on a daily basis. I have a friend that owns a 89 gxe just like me.
