Well guys, this is my second accident of the type.
I was driving to school in the morning right after
dropping my mom off at work. If anybody lives in SF,
there's this onramp from 35 South going to 280 N. Anyway,
I'm driving kinda slow down the onramp because
1. It's raining.
2. It's a downward spiral.... kinda sharp and long
3. There's some moron in front of me driving real erratic. (I swear he's drunk):

Anyway, this moron in front of me decides to slam on his brakes, bringing his car to a halt in front of me.
I, being the ever so observant driver, slam on my brakes as well. Unfortunately, ABS is not with me as it is with him.
My tail end starts to come around and I start going into some severe oversteer. I bring my steering around to
opposite lock and gas it a bit to try to keep myself from
crashing. As I'm doing this, I notice that Mr Drunkass
in his stupid Ford Tempo blasts off. (Bastard...)

So... I'm sort of spinning out at this point, and my two
front wheels are starting to slip too. The car pushes past
the shoulder, onto the curb that blocks the onramp from
the desert plants lining the freeway. I turn my front
wheels toward the curb so I can hopefully save them when
they slam into it. Then I tap my brakes, trying to slow
my drift down. Well, the left rear wheel slams into the
curb, my CD changer skips a beat and next thing ya know,
I'm outside my car cussing.

After a lengthy wait for AAA to come by and drag my
crippled car out of the plant farm, a bunch of people
show up. First, like 20 cars stop on the side of the road
to help me out. It's really annoying because at this point,
I'm really tired and just want to lay down. I know they're
trying to help out, but it gets bothersome. (Didja know
if you lay down in the drivers seat and close your eyes
in a crashed car, people think you're dead?)

Well, some good samaritan decides to call not only the
police, but the fire department, the highway patrol, and
whole host of other safety people. What fun. I'm amazed
the stupid news people didn't show up. Ok, anyway
I'm pretty stressed at this point, and then my dad shows up
in our junky little crashed up MR2. The cops start
to question him because of all the accident damage the
little MR2 has had over the years. My dad, not
not understanding the situation, starts to talk. (That's
a bad thing) He ends up pissing off the cops, confusing
the fire department, and getting the Highway patrol
to start writing up a report on the situation. (Don't want
my insurance company to find out... but it's pretty hard now.) I have to talk to everybody, sort everything out,
and tell everybody to go home.

Alrighty..... now for the Maxima.
It seems ok to me.
The damage isn't nearly as bad as the damage on my late G20.
The left rear wheel was pushed into the car from the
side-ways impact of hitting the curb. I think the
suspension arms are screwed, the strut is gone, and the
wheel is probably out too. The shop quoted $750

On my G, both the front and the rear wheels were cracked,
all the brake rotors were shattered, the rear deck was crumpled from the bent frame, the trunk wouldn't close, the left side doors wouldn't stay shut, my sub boxes in the trunk were jacked... let's see I'd say about $4000 worth of damages. Hehe, had to sell that car to get this one.

Sorry guys, had to vent, I've had a really really really
bad year. Totalled one car, 5 tickets, about 50 parking tickets, 7 accidents... boy I'm gonna be more careful now

Glad you're okay! Sorry to hear about this. It could have been worse, involving more people.

What year Max? Model?

Well, with my G20, it was worse.. Took out 2 cars,
a Mitsubishi Galant and a 240SX. Now I'm getting sued by
the lady in the Galant, claiming that I hurt her back.

I got myself a '93 Red SE. Hopefully I'll still have it
by the end of this week.

Another thing I noticed... the car looks damned attractive.
When I first bought it I thought it looked kinda boxy
but when I saw it sitting amongst the plants and mud
on the side of the freeway, it looked beautiful...

[quote]You sound pretty cocky and seem to be throwing blame everywhere, but sorry, for someone who has "totaled one car, 5 tickets, about 50 parking tickets and 7 accidents", I think you need to look yourself square in the mirror and say "I have to accept responsibility for "my" actions".

And coincidentally, I am visiting my orthopedic surgeon tomorrow for the first time since back surgery three years ago. Back pain is NO fun, and yes, wrecks cause trama to the spine. At 2 AM on February 2nd, I was explained in great detail while looking at an xray of my 16yr old sons' head and neck, how car wrecks usually straighten the spine that is normally curved at the back of the head. Since he was walking and laughing like normal, my biggest fear was he might have caused enough damage that he will be prone to back problems in the future. The spine is a delicate, complicated thing and any injury can cause pain that could last throughout their lifetime. If she is sueing you, I will assume, they assigned blame to you. So the next time you want to get mad, or bitter or show sarcasm that you are being sued, just remember you are not the one in pain and possible looking at a lifetime of it. And yes, people sue way too often, and for the slightest thing, but lifelong aggravation from a wreck injury could be a very real thing, and if her injuries are real, no amount of money can take that away.

Be mad all you want, but you said the guy in front of you was driving erratically, it was raining, and you were in a curve. If he stopped in front of you suddenly, and you couldn't stop, you were driving too close to him, especially given his erratic driving which you had already witnessed. When driving, the safest way to drive is to always assume the absolute worst will happen. Then you will be prepared for it.

Well, thats my "mom" lecture for the day.

BTW, how old are you?

-L

PS. Very glad to hear you are ok.
