Vibrations when exelerating

Hi,

I have a 91 GXE and I am having some really weird vibrations. It is intermitent, but generally when I accelerate and am going about 45mph - 55mph. and when I accelerate from 75-85mph. If I accelerate slowly it usually doesn't vibrate. It is like the engine is shaking or something... it is hard to describe. If I let off the gas the vibrations stop. It is like the engine / car is shaking. My car has also been idling rough lately =(.

I know this is a really vague explaination. But any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanx for the replys... I did look through the "search" and found lots of information. However nothing looked like my problem. So anything you can tell me would be great. Thanks again.

I would say its a fuel injector. I own a 92 GXE. About two months ago my car started idling really roughly, causing the car to shake slightly. I took it to a shop and the said my number 6 injector had failed. Fortunately for you they are available rebuilt for about $45 each. My 92 GXE has notoriously un-rebuildable injectors so I'm going to have to shell out $90 each for new ones. I've almost got the money saved up -- I'm getting tired of driving my car this way. Anyway, you can always take your car to a mechanic and ask them to check the injectors. It should cost about $45 to do this.

Hope this helps.

By the way, do a search on replacing your injectors and you'll find plenty of help on this site.
