MAF bad?

Can getting your MAF wet ruin it or make it act funny? I think I might have ruined it when I hit a pretty big puddle on the side of the road. Anyone kno were I can get one cheap? Maybe used?

yes. they are extremely sensitive to humidity. water will outright destroy it. it happened to mine. car became almost undrivable. harsh hesitations. dangerous. new one will have fresh seal. used ones will not.

go to dealer. do not get a part like that used if you can at all avoid it.

I must've gotten lucky then, bonz.... Cuz, I bought mine used almost two years ago from an .org member parting their car out and it's still running strong. But in the bigger scheme of things, I agree - buy it new, if possible.

of course: pocketbook always dictates mode of attack. but IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, do not ever buy used electronic car parts. ever. actually, one is better off buying used OEM electrical parts than new parts store crap. i once bought an O2 sensor from autozone and it didn't even function properly. so i had to spend MORE money buying a new OEM one. i measured it once and cut it twice in that case. never again. i'll spend the extra $$.

cheers to you, btw.

Paging internetautomar to this thread...internetautomar to this thread.

Check here for parts requests and here for a link to his parts site with pricing for maxima.org members only. He has a new MAF up there for $165 with a $30 core charge.
