Armrest trunk hole

hello there...I have a 1991 Maxima GXE...and in the back it has an armrest in the middle, when you fold it down...there is a peice of cardboard/plastic seperating the back seat from the trunk...so with my fine carpentry skills i cut a hole in this...looks very nice...and now all i have to do is cut a hole in the wall carpet in the trunk...and ive seen pictures of peoples subs facing inward goin thru this whole...does anyone have a setup like this? also...if you read the "something in the trunk" thread...i have one of those that i guess ill need to remove...no cords on mine tho...also there is a silver bar going across in my trunk that blocks the lower half of my whole...does anyone know what this is for? can it be cut/removed? thanks for any input/pictures

yeah my armrest opens up to my trunk. but i didn't cut anything, i simply took out that plastic liner and that cardboard thingy. i then took that cardboard and shaped it into a 'U' shape and installed it back so it'll cover that unsightly metal bracket that goes across the seat. kinda hard to explain. i'll see if i can get some pics up.

I did it too. I cut the colored cardboard and took a cutting knife to the trunk carpet and now it looks nice, and i can put my hokcey sticks from the trunk. Not having to bring it in the cabin.

the bar is support for the rear seat. It can be removed. I have had mine off for about a week now. I am trying to do the same thing as you. I have been driving around town with no back seat.

I have a box with 2 15 inch JLs with a plexiglass window between the arm rest. You can see the inside of the box and it has 2 neon lights in it to illuminate it at night. I had 1 15 firing forward in the armrest hole, but I wanted more bass, so I put 2 in. I'll upload pics if you want.

or you could just leave the whole thing in place and let the bass travel through the seats, that is how I have mine setup with my 12" rockford. Why look in the dark trunk?

I built my box to fit perfectly into the trunk, it is angled the same as the seat and you can't see any wires in the install. I will take pics tomororw and post.

see im not a kind of guy that likes or listens to stuff with heavy bass so im prolly just gonna get a single low wattage ten in my trunk, but i would like to have some components in there insted of the 6x9's that rattle in the deck, then again might just keep those, but im a retard so whatever
