rear suspension

I have a 91 Maxima GXE and I am in the process of lowering it. I bought KYB's all the way around with sprint springs. The front was done sucessfully but I didn't know that rear has adjustable suspension. Where could I find a set of performance struts for the rear that will work on my car; without breaking an arm and leg. I've tried to search but it would not let me.

Koni's would be the best shock you can put in there. $120 a piece from internetautomar.

Next down the list would be Tokico.

a common complaint i have found since i have been on the org is that many say that the blues "settle" poorly, ie, become too soft. some say that they feel like stock suspension. as for me, i like that for daily use. they are very stock-like; however, they actually are not as soft as stock. but they are not stiff, a sort of happy middle.

it is to my understanding that the konis are firmer.

The Konis are adjustable, so you can choose what you want.

Since I do a lot of road course events, mine are set so stiff that they'll rattle the fillings out of your teeth.. but it corners like a madman!

the Konis are by a HUGE margin better than the Tokicos, but they cost more. Another place where the old rule "you get what you pay for" comes into play.

Are the Konis electronically adjustable. I think that is what I need. The KYB's that I bought were just a tube. I need the tube with the round bracket around it. Can someone explain why some 3rd gens have electronic suspension and some dont. This is being a pain to find rear struts.

uhhhhhhhhhhh...
the rears are INSERTS.
you remove the factory strut from the car, clean the guts out of it, and slide the insert in. it bolts right in.

what do the inserts look like. I just want to make sure that I buy the right ones because I already bought the wrong ones. The guy who is doing this for me said that the dealership said it would cost 400 dollars per strut for the rear. My front is dumped on st springs and KYB struts. Just waitin' for the rear but I'm still confused on what I exactly need.

You make it sound so simple.

EDIT: Matt, is there something else you like about the Konis better, other than being able to set it much stiffer than the Tokicos? I'm just wondering because I might or might not be headed towards strut replacement next year....

You can swap the non-electronic shocks for the electic ones with no problems
