fuel smell

Here is one for you guys, Just recently I have started getting a really strong fuel smell from my car. All the fuel lines were replaced last year as well as the fuel injectors on the car. Since then I have not had any problems with smell. What I have noticed is around the number 1 fuel injector that its damp. could such a small leak give off that kind of smell or do I have other problems somewhere else. The gas tank look dry underneath, and the smell doesn't change full or empty.

I'm going to make a guess and say that it's a leaking O-ring around the injector.

it doesn't take much for a fuel smell, let alone a fire.

smoking under the hood is bad.

also check your fuel filler tube and vent hoses for cracks while you are looking. And your evaproative canister

thanks, going to go over the entire fuel system on the car. I think that its the fuel injector seal the most though.

Basically you have two o-rings sealing the injector a upper and a lower ring. the reason for the two rings is that the injectors are side feed type.

it could also be the rubber washer that goes between the injector and the lower intake plenum
