How much should a timing belt job cost?

On a '91 SOHC SE?

i've been getting ~600 bucks with all other belts and a water pump. wayyyy to much for me to pay right now... it'll be a good DIY experience!!!

for $600 you could probably fly an org member out ther to do it pay him/her $1-200 and still save money!
of course I'd have to recommend that you buy the parts from someone here

OK, maybe a better question would have been:
Can anyone suggest a shop in the NY/CT area that can do a decent timing belt job for less than, say, $400?

dude, do it yourself, it's really not that hard, I actually just took the belt off my max today, believe it or not. But I have bigger issues to deal with(my broken crankshaft). You don't have to remove the engine or anything, and you'll save a buttload of money. I can tell you it could possibly be an all day job, maybe even 2, depending on your experience, but well worth the time.

P.S. it would be an easy learning experience too.

Been thinking about that... I have the garage space and it wouldn't be a problem if the car was down for a few days. Never done one... might be time. Damn I wish SEARCH was up!
