Saab Cupholder

Hi,

I have a 1991 Maxima GXE.

I have obtained one of the Saab 9000 saab cupholders and tried installing it this evening.

I noticed there was some resistance getting the cup to fit deep into the 2nd din. I had to push hard. Now, the cup holder will not open after i have put the front part of the dash on. I have an aftermarket Clarion tape/CD player in.

Secondly, how do you secure the holes on the cupholder to the headunit craddle ? The holes on the cupholder do not match those on the craddle?

Any tips from those who have successfully installed the cupholder? It looks nice though..

thanks in advance - Noela

I am sorry i don't have a digital camera

but what i wanted to know was do you need to make any adjustment (cut it shorter) to the saab cupholder before installing it in the maxima?

or maybe mine is not going in because there are wires behind that is preventing it?

i'd try and ask a friend for a digital camera, and see if that helps.

thanks in advance.

I heard you had to do a bit of trimming in order to get it to fit, but don't quote me since I don't have it. I'd say search, but we ALL know what'll happen when you push that button:

I thought about doing this for a while and I remember reading that it was a tight fit. I would search and find out which members did this and shot them a PM. Good Luck.

Thanks - but the search isn't working - what do I need to do?

I would appreciate any further information

heres a post from another thread i found ::

OK....I had this problem for so long but have solved it very easily for those that do not have a cup holder!!!!

This is the solution: Buy a cup holder for a saab 9000 less then 30 bucks!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...item=2433910504

all you have to do is take out the plastic thing under the stereo and insert this one, but first you have to shave the corners off of the cupholder and if fits like a glove! It also holds coins which is much better then the one ours came with, it doesn't rattle over bumps and stuff, it's spring loaded and so is the cupholder check it out. Look for it in Ebay.

Since when are donating members the only ones that can do a search? I don't mind donating, but it would be nice to know that the rules have changed...

I had the cupholder in question installed for a while. It was a very tight fit, depth-wise. I just pushed the wire bundles inside the console aside as best I could, and I was able to get the cupholder in place without making any cuts. I think there is at least one pic of it installed on my webpage.

It definitely functioned better than the OEM cupholder. I took it out because I missed the storage, and the OEM look.

If anyone is interested in buying mine, Ill let it go cheap, just shoot me a pm.
