gas smell / HAC Unit and clock......

wasup gentlemen,

I have a 91 max and I have the following problems and I thought you guys could help.

Interior Problems:

light in the HAC unit does not light up when park lights are engaged.
light in the clock does not engage either

Exterior Problems:

when I crank on my car in the cold weather I get a gas smell once I turn on my heater. When I first purchased the car the same problem had happened and I changed the gas filter and the smell went away, however i believe that it is too soon to get this gas smell......

any help would be appreciated..

thanks fells

I have a 91 Maxima GXE with 85K miles. I noticed the same problem (gas smell when I start in cold weather and turn on the heater) after one of the fuel injectors was replaced. While I was researching that I found this message....any idea guys?

Thanks

chances are the rubber gas lines under the hood are cracked. when it's cold enough, the rubber contracts and the gaps in the crack increase and gas seeps out. once warmed up, the rubber expands and closing up the gap. just replace the lines.

Thanks Fosgate Fan.... I took my maxima to the Nissan service center here and they confirmed that the rubber gas lines have cracked. They advised not to drive until this is repaired ...so over this weekend they will fix it (as they have to reach under the manifold...). It will cost me $180.

This forum really is cool. Gives some idea before one takes the car to the mechanic!!

$180 seems a bit high...what all are they changing?

for your clock problem, visit Craig B's site. You have to do some soldering! Oh what FUN!!!

Just the hoses & clamps. But I guess the labor is high.
