New Air Filter

i was talking to one of my friends, who has a civic that he drives the f@#$ out of, and he was talking about his delay in acceleration recently. he was telling me that he thinks that this is due to his air filter needing to be changed. is this true. if it is then may be mine needs to be changed because my car doesnt always like to get up and go real quick. if this is true then should i change my air filter, and if i change it i wanna make it better. what could i do to make it better, any performance upgrades that dont cost an arm and a leg, i dont have all that much money.

how many miles are on your car and when was your last tunup.

it could be the air filter but it could be alot of things

you could get a cold air intake for about 150$ thats good for about 5hp or a K&N replacement for maybe 50$ thats worth maybe 2 hp but those hp figures are over a new stock replacement filter if your filter looks all black and crudy than it could be like a 15 hp improvment only way to find out if pull it out and take a look at it

New Air filter is a cheap performance boost over a dirty one, not too mention the gas mileage you'll see will be better
(this all assumes your filter has more than 5k on it)

honestly, if you have a paper element, hold it up to the light or put a light behind it, if the light shines threw, its still good. I know exactly how it is with little to No (specifically no) money.

We can even make a paper element filter club, and be l33t and not follow the crowd (dare I say.... Dodge Different?)

yea that delay in response could well be a number of things. In my experience its never the most obvious, easy one to fix...
