How easy is it to replace the drivers window?
I parked my car and left it unlocked... It locked itself while I was gone... and on top of that my locks froze and I had no way to open the doors... I messed around with trying to open the locks carefully but had no success... My friend tried to help and jammed the key in the lock and nearly snapped of the key in the lock, this didnt work on the drives side so he tried it on the passengers side(it was dark out didnt see what he was doing till too late)... So now my car is sitting in the parking lot with frozen and possibly broken locks and i dont know if i can make it open with lock de-icer and my other key...
so would it be better to call a lock smith and pay to have it opened or should I just choose a window and smash it? (I have all the glass intact on my parts car) How easy is it to change out the window? Has anyone switched locks? Can it be done easily? My locks work on my parts car... I would probably switch the door locks(if they are broken) and the trunk latch key/lock(doesnt work) Can this be done in an afternoon?

dude, don't kill the car trying to get in...
just use something to warm up the lock enough to get in there, then install a keyless entry or something that you don't have to worry about the key...

replacing the window is very easy, you can check the info in the stickies about replacing the window regulators.
When I was waiting for my regulator to get to me, I just took my window out and left the car ghetto style with no door panel or anything for a couple of days and the window was easy enough to put back in.
HOWEVER, that should be your LAST resort. I think you should be able to unthaw your locks enough to get one open.
Besides, if they are frozen enough that you couldn't turn them, they are likely not broken -- especially since you didn't break the key in there. You probably just bent the outside metal on the lock a little and that's not the part that locks/unlocks the doors.

I got the car open with a little de-icer.. I was just wondering in case I had to break in... the locks look easy to change once you have the window out and the trunk lock was easy to change... Thanks for the advice
