me and a friend did it on his 91 gxe over the summer without a donor car although if planed out could be alot cheaper and easier with a donor car

find a good donor car, it saves time and money, im seriously thinking baout doing it on my gxe sometime soon, if you find a good se with a vg that messed up but not a bad tranny, just swap the engine, thats what im looking for aswell.

harder than hell to find a donor car down here in my area that dont run more than 2500. Manual 3rd gens are hard enough to find in the first place.

it will cost you about $900- if u do it your self and get a new clutch and flywhell plus selling back the auto tranny and donor car
no electronics involved
all 3rd gens car take eachothers tranny as long as the mounts are with it
i'm gonig to do this swap before summer
im guessing a shop would do the swap for about 1500

i agree - parts cars the way to go, this way if you need small odds and ends then its there.

CHRISCHEEZER - ve and vg trannys cant be mixed.

well like i said i would be easier with a parts car but you dont neccicerily need one and it only cost my friend about 300$ to do it and thats without a parts car but this was using a used clutch and flywheel although you could get a new stock clutch kit for about 115$ and get your stock flywheel machined for about 20$

i would check out local junk yards for 3rd gen 5spds and check for prices. you can also use some stuff from 2nd gens we used the shifter linkage and tranny from a 2nd gen but the mounts and brakets and pedals are different so we got those from a 3rd gen
