Location of Master Key Number in glove compartment?

ok in the previous thread we all agreed that we can just make a new key using a code from the glove compartment box. Now this is the thing, where exactly is this code? How many digits is it? i only found a 6 digit number and i called nissan they said its a 4 digit number (the person sounded real rude over the phone). Now if any of you guys can take a pic and show exactly where it is..i will appreciate it...thanx again.

I'm not sure I remember that thread, but just as an add-on, you can also take your car TO the dealer, give them your VIN (or let them copy it off the car), and have them cut a new key.

I say take the car to the dealer because there was some news report a while back about how thieves would just copy the VIN, go to a dealer, and say "hey, I locked my keys in my car..." Whereas the stupid @$$ dealer, not thinking, would cut a key, giving said thief complete access to your car.

Food for thought - do the dishes....

The code would be on a sticker and it starts with the letter "X"
The dealer can not make the key off your vin on our cars

The dealers began instituting a VIN/key database somewhere around the 3rd gen era, but it was a voluntary thing and not all dealers did it. SOME places will have your VIN and key code catalogged, most won't.

I tried to have a new original key made for mine because the one I have is almost worn out, and I've had about eight copies made (by nissan and by locksmiths) and none of them work very well at all.. I called several dealers trying to get a new one made off the code, but none of them have my car listed anywhere.

A local dealer told me 95 or 96.
I had a new key cut for mine off the sticker in the glovebox that I was lucky enough to still have there.

The code would be in large print on a LARGE sticker right inside the glovebox, if you don't see it, then the sticker was probably removed...I thought it was my keyless entry code

Then you've the master key and your trunk lock needs to be fixed/rekeyed.
I've got the same problem but I f-ed up and accidentaly hit the release lockout so for now I have no trunk

My valet key has a red plastic top and it is smaller than the oval Nissan master key. I can't find the valet right now, though. I also have a three year old who thinks any key will start his Tonka dump truck so he may have "borrowed" it.

RedMax, funny thing is, he probably knows exactly where the key is if you ask him. My little girl always "lifts" my keys too...

I was only given the valet key when I bought my car, is there anyway to get a master key?

Only if that code is still in the glove box
Or you can still hope that the original selling dealer still has it in their records, But I'd seriously doubt it

I still have every document given to me by the dealer when I bought the car new in 93. I checked my glove compartment and there is no sticker but there IS a sticker on the owner's manual leather case. I seem to remember (not exactly clear on this) the salesman telling me that the sticker on the case is the key code. It has 5 digits but it doesn't begin with an 'x'. Only 5 digits doesn't seem likely though. It's one of those 'tape' stickers (can't remember what they're called, made by the handheld machines that embed the numbers in a vinyl tape). Maybe I should run on down to a dealer and find out?

I had that problem with my maxima... mine turned out to be a frozen lock on my trunk... When I took the lock out it was frozen solid with rust, the part with the tumblers was solid with rust and debris, the spring on the back was also frozen... I replaced it with trunk lock off my parts car so now I have to carry around 2 keys...
