hey man,
glad to hear you got the gtech and have been riding around with the new engine.
quick question...
wouldn't you want to lower your compression some more so that you can add more boost?
what compression are vg30et or vg30dett engines at(stock)?

just curious....

87-89 vg30et are 8.5:1, 84-86 is 8.3:1, and i think the vg30dett has 8.5:1. 9:1 actually isn't that bad for boost. most of the forged pistons that i've found for the vg30dett are 9:1 (which i would have to use since i would be using the dett's rods). what is also nice about using 9:1 pistons on my car is that would put me back to stock power n/a. it would be like putting a turbo on the stock maxima engine but with better internals .

da-max, i feel you, man. i think there will always be the VG v. Ve or VG v. whatever argument -pro and con, vice versa. personally, i have never had my actual hands on a turbo project or super-pro-street all-motor project, but i think with enough insanity and resources, one could get an n/a vg to break the innovative 15.3 benchmark. i mean, c'mon, i've at least noticed small gains with thinner motor oil!

well, there's that n/a 300 hp vg30e engine which would easily put a maxima past the 15.3 second mark lol. downside is that engine costs over 8,000 dollars. at least one can be built.

and the reason that people downplay the VG so much is because they only think of them being in heavy *** street driven Maixmas....slap that Heikman(sp?) motor in a stripped down 510 or somehting to that fact and watch what happens then it'll be worth every bit of $8k(though you could probably find another "mom and pops" nissan builder to do it for little less)

yeah, that would be one sweet car! still, there's no replacement for... boost, lol. forced induction is the the easiest possible way to gain lots of power. plus, forced induction engines make nifty noises
