I love sidemarkers as long as they contain AMBER bulbs, and ONLY blink with signals

They would have hyper white bulbs and only blink.

Nissan decided to not use sidemarkers on the 3rd gen Maxima.

Therefore there should not be any side marker lights on a 3rd gen Maxima.

Nissan decided to not use a LOT of stuff on the 3rd gen Maxima... clear corners, BMW headlights and 5 spoke rims come immediately to mind. That's never stopped enthusiasts such as ourselves from that kind of expression.

(although 5 spoke rims......) But I digress...

A lot of the side marker thing would depend on WHERE you want to mount them.

the sidemarkers are on the max.
it's part of the cornering light assembly.
I personally don't think that add-on sidemarkers will look good

I'm sorry but what the hell is a side marker?

some sort of little light I would guess based on previous posts. I really don't even care. I hate rice, especially when uncle ben is not involved.

A sidemarker is a light that supposedly helps illuminate the side of your car when the turn signal is turned on. It also helps people see that you're turning. Generally, it's located close to the front doors to the top right of the wheel well.

Arent they required in Europe and Japan. Personally I like them. Ever changed lanes on the freeway and hoped people saw your lights? Just because the US doesn't require, doesn't mean it is a bad idea. The US allows all red rear turn signals, which I think are bad compared to yellow signals that make it more obvious that you are signalling for a turn.

I agree that sidemarkers are fine....but when people start putting hyperwhites in them that defeats the whole purpose, but to each his own. if you guys want blinking sidmarkers just re-wire your stock corners(the orange reflector part) to blink, not that hard-->

magic markers

sidemarkers are commonly found on audis, saabs, mercedes, etc. they have been around for as long as i can remember. nothing to do with rice. i have seen maximas with them. but if you are into the whole shaved look, then forget it. not for you. i could swear that new zealander guy has them stock on his RHD 3rd gen.

I'm actually getting ready to do some sidemarkers. I got some from work for a volvo V70 and they are real, therefore require a bit more work than drilling a hole and screwing it to the outside of the fender.

Side marker lights or repeater lights are standard on NZ, Aussie & Euro Max's (due to local Euro-based laws) - not on JDM or North American models. They are round & orange in color - clears probably exist somewhere, but bulbs would have to be orange. Note that where USDM repeater lights are, our Max's don't have a light there - it's a blanked off clear. However, I've modded mine - fitted an orange bulb & wired it up to the side-light circuit - it doesn't flash.

Yeah, but aren't your 'repeater' lenses of the smoked variety??? That, there, puts you one up on us!

I think whether you should do it or not depends on how "ricey" your car already is! For someone keeping it low key and fairly stock looking, I think they would be okay. I'm more partial to stock looking orange lenses and not the clear ones though.

Yeah - where your repeater lights are orange, ours are clear blanks - no bulbs, cut-outs or wiring. Hence the little round repeaters mounted on the fender between wheel arch & the door. Also, our sidelights are mounted in main headlights, not as part of corner light. One day I'll get around to posting pix on cardomain.
BTW: side repeater lights have been mandated in UK/Europe for over 40 years! They're not 'rice', they're 'euro'...
