Highest wattage for e36 lights

What is the highest wattage for the e36 lights?

for the lights themselves i'd say there's not really a limit (unless the bulbs get hot enough to melt the housing). it really all depends on your wiring. if you replace the thin wires that come stock on the maxima you should be able to support a pretty high wattage.

The fact that they're E36 lights won't dictate the wattage you can use for them. If you 'beef up' the actual OEM headlight harness, you can theoretically run whatever wattage you want.

Do you think I could eventually put in a Hella hid kit in the e36 housing?

I'm sure you COULD. I know I'm looking at going that route sometime. I just need to figure out HOW...

But right now, I got too many projects cluttering up my living room for me to worry about that.

I found a couple of prospects on ebay for the fake hid lights.might try it.

Go there. Stock US BMW E36 reflectors use 9005/9006's (seperate bulbs for low and hi). Aftermarket BMW E36 lights w/ projectors (commonly called ellipsoids since they are halogen and not HID) use H1's.
