My auto. tranny is shot at 60,000 miles and the rest of the car is in show room condition. I was looking for a insurance totaled car for a new tranny, but why stop there. Maybe even swap out the engine if it's an SE.

Which 3rd generation cars (92 to 94) can be used to swap out the tranny and or engine? or can a newer model be used (1995 - 2000)? Been told that there are two different auto tran. for the '93 GXE.

Limping along,

You can use any engine from->

the 89-91 Maxima or any engine from the 92-94 non-se. The Se has a ve30de w/ uses a diff wiring harness. Much effort to switch I think. So any VG30 will work. It would be nice if you could find a good used tranny and do a valve body upgrade ala Don in Texas. He develped valve body mods for the maxima

Will the tranny from the SE engine with auto tranny work in the 93 GXE without major modification.

And does anybody make a wiring harness conversion from GXE harness to a SE engine harness?

Hello folks!!! A newbie question here. I have a auto 92 GXE and I was wondering if the VE30de from the SE will be a direct bolt on? Will I need to custom fabricate anything in the engine bay and will the tranny be the same? I am seriously thinking about embarking on this swap so any help or suggestion from you pro will be greatly appreciated. Look forward to your response. Thanks.
