Failed emissions today. I was high on hydrocarbons and Nox. I always thought my exhaust smelled rich. But any ideas what might be causing them to be high. I have a carsound cat thats a few months old and a bosch o2 sensor thats a few months old to.

 

When I failed NOx it was my EGR system that was the culprit, and that is the case for 99% of NOx failures. As for the high hydrocarbons, perhaps you have 1 leaky injector or something. How much higher than the limit were the readings? If your hi-flow cat wasn't warm enough then HC readings can be abnormally high.

My hydrocarbon reading was 1.8 and the standard is 1.0. I was driving around all day before I went in to test.

Well at least you know what caused it and it is an easy/cheap repair
