strange automatic tranny
I was trying to get my car out of snow and ice by shifting to R, D, 2, and 1 gear... After rocking my car for 5 mins, I successfully got out of snow and started driving on Highway. I realized that my car was running at 2 gear even my shifter is at D gear. Then I shifted to 2, and 1 gear, and actually running in 2 gear.. I was cruising around 55 to 60mph, and it's like 3 to 3.5k rpm.. can't even try to go above 65mph in "D" shift. I tried to turn off the overdrive, and turn on/off the Power/Comfort button.. They aren't working.. remain the same rpm...and speed.. After driving for an hour.. I stopped the car, and remove the key and waited for 20 mins.. I started the car again, and all gears, overdrive, power/comfort modes are all working fine.. Have you guys experienced that before?
Also, I have posted these before but no good answer yet.. Let me try again.. Water is dripping on the passenger mat (right under the blow fan) whenever there is heavy rain. I replaced, resealed the windshield, and it still happens.. I check the moonroof drain, that is work properly.. water isn't leaking out from there.. Any idea?
Thanks,

The auto tranny on the Nissan Stanza from 90-92 has a temporary "safe mode" that will kick in in a situation like you described. It essentially keeps you from doing any damage to the transmission. This is relevant because the Stanza and the Maxima used the same transmission in those years. Even though yours is a 93, I imagine what you experienced is the same.
As to your water leak, are you sure that it's just water? Leaks in that area can also be from a bad heater core.

I had the same problem but before you get on the highway to do some speeding turn O/D off. THe car will stall at 65 then you'll feel it jump like a really hard shift (that's assuming you forgot to turn O/D off before you got on and the tranny has already locked into position). Then you can accelerate. O/D locks the tranny between 3rd and 4th gear. that's what happened.
The leak could be coming from your heating ducts on the floor.

well. for the tranny.. i am not going to worry about it now since it's working properly now. i believe that it's computer stuff not mechanical problem.
water drips on the passenger floor mats. it has been happening like this since last year.. ONLY happens when it rains heavily. i am sure it's not from heater coil. i tasted it.. yuke.. water only. for instance, if i park my car outside for a night, and it is raining heavily for the entire night, i will see a puddle of water on the floor mat..and still see water drips from the fan plastic cover. i am not sure if water somehow got into the air intake fan or water is from somewhere and finding its own way to get there.. i almost wanna disassemble the fan unit and everything under the dash to find out, but i don't know how much headache i have to deal with.
