has anyone else seen this recall?

i just found this, it says that mud and other objects can get into the gas filler tube. i knew there was a recall on this, but when i spoke to a dealer, they said that there was no work done on that car for that problem, and that there was no such recall. so i gave up on that idea, since i was noticing a strong gas smell, i figure it must have been something else.

heres the link

yup, its been around for a long time. what really sucks is if there is too much damage nissan won't fix it. they'll buy the car from you but only at the book price or whatever. i think i read on here that someone's was so rusted the rear struts shot up through the metal. i can't quite remember if that was on here or not though.

they only apply to cars from the northern part of the coutnry... they mention "places where roads are salted heavily to remove snow and ice", but they don't mention places like houston where there's salty buildup on the roads from being so close to the ocean. I've noticed a bunch of fugly spots under my hood that weren't there until a month or so ago... this cancer **** is starting on my car, and I live 50 miles from the beach!

Anyway, Nissan won't honor the recall stuff this far south- unless you can prove the car was registered and driven up north for several years.

if you want, give me a shout and bring the car by sometime and I'll take a look at it. It's a good 1.5 hour drive from you, but would you rather pay me or nissan to fix it?

i live in memphis, tn, and got my recall done in december. it's up to the dealer though. the filler vent hose is the rubber tubing about 7 inches at the end of the metal filler pipe. mine was cracking and leaking gas when i filled up! not a good thing. they replaced the metal pipe too, and i don't smell anymore gas.

i need to run mine to a dealer sometime. its no longer holding pressure and there's quite a bit of rust showing up. however, knowing my luck there will be too much damage and they won't fix it.

I tried to have this done at the dealer but they gave me the same s*it. They said they ran the VIN and there were no reports. They said it could have either been done or did not apply to my car. The previous owner lived in Toledo, near Lake Erie for 11 years (very salty). I can't even use the seat belts in the back seat the bracket broke off. Salt and water comes into the back seat and through the floor pans.
