TRANNY acting weird when braking hard??

about a week ago i installed some new crossdrilled/slotted rotors and new pad and have been testing them out lately. Well the other night i was getting off work and made a hard stop at an orange light after i came to a stop i noticed my idle was around 1.5-1.8 and even though the car was in " D " it was acting like it was in the nuetral position. Igave it a little gas and no forward movement then suddenly it lunged forward with out me ever touching the shifter( by the way unfortunatly its an auto) .............you guys ever experience this???? major mechanical problem?? cpu problem ???? let me know thanks

maybe you'll need new shifter bushings...sounds like its sliding out of gear maybe if so, $2 and an easy fix

but as always its an auto trans, so never count out that it could be something worse

This may be stupid but that sounds an awful lot to me like low tranny fluid. When you hit the brakes the fluid could have slushed forward and the pickup lost flow for a sec, causing the tranny to slip. Then when you were sitting and giving it gas the pickup got the fluid going and then bam, you jumped in gear.

Maybe this isnt it, but its worth checking.

Good Luck! Joe

Same thing happened to me. Check your tranny fluid first. If that's not it replace your transmission bushings they are only like $5. If it still slips you might be in my same ship and have to get a new transmission. How many miles you got on your car?

Yo guys thats the same thing that is happening to me. when I stop and hit the gas bam!! into gear. This doesn't happen all the time. Mind you this is a tranny that i swapped. One more thing at 45mph the 4th gear has a habit of accelerating and deccelerating on it's own.
