It's not that bad, but if you are getting noise out of it, might as well replace it.

Will there be a problem if I change only one. The front right is also leaking (very little). I would like to do both but there are some limiting factors ($$$$$). Will changing only one cause problems?
Thanks again

Changing just one shouldn't cause any problems in and of itself. If you want to buy some time, you could try replacing the boot with one of those split versions. They are a pain in the a$$, but they'll keep the grease in for a little while until you can save up for new axles. Aftermarket axles aren't that much- maybe $50-$60 each if you can do the work yourself. The split boots are like $10 each. I hate them, but I've used em in a pinch..

Or fix it with some ghetto wire.

I'd vote to replace it though.

drive around in full lock circles. if it clunks, replace it, if it doesnt, fix the boot.
I'm poor too . Granted I'd have better peice of mind just replacing them, but still what works, works.

Just replace the axle. Nothing is worst than letting your axle break on you, becomes much more exspensive from the damage caused to the rest of the car.
