thermostat change
how is it done in 3rd gen maxima SOHC.
does it mean a loss of lot of coolant?
what is the proper thermostat temp for it?
170 or 180?!
which one garantees that the ECU goes out of warmup mode?
also what do you think the best way of getting air out of the heater core?
sorry about the already asked quenstions I wish I could search.
Thanks

A 170 should work fine (I think a 170 is stock, iirc). Of course, your best bet is to go to the dealer and get an OEM thermostat. It's more expensive than the Schmuck's ones, but 1) it will fit right and 2) it will not leak or fail prematurely.
Go OEM.

I think Aaron has been running a Autozone one that he modified abit, 150* t-stat. He said his car still gets back up to 190* but it takes alot longer to do so. The cooler t-stat can prevent knocking/pinging, and the cooler temps can get you more power, its more of a domestic thing though. Dont go changing them without a solid knowledge base on how it works and the theory behind a cooler/warmer t-stat. (go too cold and you can prematurely wear out the engine... again more of a domestic thing but still).
T-Stat on a VE is easy (for me) I dont think its that hard on a VG either, but I've never tinkered with one on a VG.
