front strut blew up
front strut blew up
my maxima has 142k on it and when I bought it, I was fumbling through the receipts looking what was done to it, and never saw any suspension work done to it. I was heading to PA to get my oil changed before going to my parents place. So I was loading my maxima up with my oem shocks/struts from my RSX when I changed to coilovers. so I was leaving the parking lot and felt the car literally bouncing down the road. I get out and the front of the car is slammed, like a funny car kinda. I knew exactly what happened, but with the cold weather and unexpected break, I just took it to my mechanic to get taken care of. so after driving 63 miles, 2 new Monro Sensatrac struts installed plus maxlife oil change for $410.

Sensatrac huh? My mother crashed her Max about 4 years ago, and ruined the control arm and the strut. The body shop replaced the strut with a Sensatrac. 2 year after, I went to replace Her struts (with Tokico) and the Sensatrac was blown. In fact it was worse than the Nissan OEM. The Sensatrac only had about 8K on it.
I have to ask but are these struts being installed right and being treated right? I mean seriously that is nuts. only 8k before needing news ones. I have to replace my rears and if this is really the case then I willl go with the higher price.

Keep in mind that this was ONE strut. Not a set. Yes, the bodyshop took good care of the car, the strut was installed "right"
One is hardly a set to make a case out of, but it was an impressive failure anyway.
