Veird Noises

When making u-turns (or any sharp turn) my 89 maxima start squealing a bit. I tried to find out exactly where it was coming from but could only determine the general vicinity was passenger side. I also read up that it could be the CV joint/boot. Is this right?

And my starter grinds for a second before the car start up.

Any suggestions/links would be great.

Thanks in advance.

CVs don't squeal when they go bad--they clack, so I would vote for the P/S belt. Check tension.

As for the starter grinding, my FAQ research and digging through the board has led me to the following assumptions (take with grain of salt):

1. Yeah, starters don't last forever, so this one may be on its way out.
2. However, my starter grinds a little when cold (with a decent battery) with no apparent adverse effects. I don't know if it will stay that way forever, but it doesn't seem to be a sign of impending doom, either.

Hope this helps.

I admit I did overreact a little and I'm sorry internetautomarket. Its just that djmorgan was trying to help and then someone has to go calling him a newb. I think as an experienced maxima.org forum poster, you should promote others to take part.

I don't think forums should be a big popularity contest. And if all your posts are like the first one on this thread, you shouldn't think you're all that tight.

1. It's internetautomart not market, but market is an interesting one.
2. I've never considered this forum a popularity contest. Nor should it be one.
3. as stated before the first post was never intended to be rude.
4. someone who has just signed up and is on their first post or 2 is a NOOB! period. we were all there at some point.

Hey maybe I can help I changed all my belts and the power steering belt started squeeking because it was too loose/tight maybe? if you open the front windows, does the sound come from the area where the belts are? I bet that has something to do with it.

Oh. Well, that's a different question. Your original question sounded more like "Who the $#@@& are you?" Despite your intentions, of course.

That's probably not mine--I don't *think* I have a dent in my spoiler. . .

I live in Rogers Park. I have driven Maxima SEs on and off since 1992. I have owned BMW 5s, a MINI Cooper S, Honda Accords, Volvo turbos and normally aspirated 240s, Mazda Protege LX, and a Chevy Suburban.

I'm enjoying my relatively new '93, and thanks for the welcome.
