Replacing hub studs
Ok, how do I get the studs out to replace them. I've got my front wheel up on jack stands, wheel off, caliper off, rotor off, but I can't seen to get the studs knocked out. I've just been trying to hammer the out. Is this right?? They seem to be siezed in there or something, any ideas?

Ok, I finally got the studs loose, after hammering and hammering. Now, there just loose in the hub, how do I get them out. Iv'e had a couple of people tell me that I just need to rotate the hub and that there is a hole in the back that they can slide out of, but I can't seem to find this so called hole. Do I have to remove the entire hub to remove the studs?

Ok man, any of guys who were able to take off the hub from spindle. How did ya do it? Please tell me there is an alternative method to using a hydraulic press cuz I lived way too far from any mechanics and I am pretty new to this area, so I knew no ones around here that could get me a ride. I think you could do it with a thread rod and some custom made plumming pipes. It's just that I don't seem to get get how does that damn hub could be detached from the spindle. Any pics and advices would be greatly appreciated.

seriously...use a press. if you even get the hub off the spindle you'll still need to get the bearings...if you fudge those they will last about a month before they fry.
to get the hub out hit it from the back side around the neck of the hub. make sure your spindle is in a vice or something to hold it.

It's EASY to replace a stud. DO NOT remove the hub to do this. So, once you have the stud lose, you won't be able to remove it. Get a pair of tin snips and cut a notch out of the outer edge of the metal plate. When you cut this notch out, you simply rotate the stud to line up with the notch and then you can barely squeeze it out. Once you have that notch, it's very easy to replace a stud then. I replaced one of mine last weekend in less than 10 minutes. The hardest part was removing and replacing the wheel. ![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Oh yeah, don't remove the brake pads. Just remove those 2 19mm bolts on the backside of the caliper and slide of the caliper off. It will slide off with some effort. Some people don't know this.
