What could I expect to run in the 1/4 with basic bolt ons?

I have the VG engine, the car is a 5 spd. Right now its stock, and would expect to run low 16's. What could I expect with basic cold air intake, and maybe a couple other cheap mods? I am not at all knowlegeable about these cars and I dont know how well they take to modifications. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

High 15s if you are lucky.

edit: But now that I have had time to think about it, I bet you won't break out of the 16s.

They should run 16.4s stock at a SEA LEVEL track. Find out the elevation of the track you will be running at. Then calculate all weather conditions and then you can make an accurate assumption of what you should run stock.

But stock, expect 16.2 - 17.5s. Depending on conditions, driver, etc.

the 5speeds should run a 16.4 stock. As for a auto, Im not quite sure.

I was only talking about a VG 5spd. But if you want to know the normal 1/4 mile time for a VG Auto, it's anywhere from 16.8-17.5s. But it should run 16.9 or 17 flat. I have heard of some freak VG Autos doing 16.6s bone stock.

I pulled off a 16.3 (what Car & Driver said for a stock '90 5sp) w/ a popcharger in 98* heat at 1500ft ASL. 18lbs of air in the fronts.

That was after about 10 runs.

I should be able to hit high 15's at near sea level with a cai and no muffler...

What's ASL? But in that kind of heat and elevation, that's a VERY solid time. You should be happy with it. Get to Seattle in some cooler weather and high 15s are very possible.

Hey Aaron, Anton and I might be able to get out to the track on Feb, 29th. I believe that will be the first day it's open again, with brand new asphault . Actually that might be a bad thing though, it might be alittle slick if its brand new right? bah, It wouldn't be that big of a deal, or atleast not for me, I have crappy tires on my car

I'll talk to him about it, We'll see what kind of times we can pull up here

Yeah, brand new asphalt should be very slick until rubber gets laid. When they built the track in Vegas, it was the only 100% concrete track in the US. Now, when concrete is new, it's SLICK. But after about 3 years, it's now known as the best track in the nation. That's what the NHRA fuel guys say.

But if you go to Seattle, you can see some solid times. I've seen a lot of good times come from there on cool days.

Mid-16's isnt hardly a Civic killer, and in fact I find it hard to believe most of the time when I hear of VG's 'killing' Si's...

The VG isnt as fast as I was hoping, but its not too bad. Hopefully I can get it to the track in the spring to see what I can come up with.

My roomy stops by here sometimes. he has a '97 EX and likes to think he's fast. I'd take my sisters crappy auto VG w/ 220k on it over his car in a race. He has intake and greddy exhaust even. Sorry was kind of a random comment...meant to **** off my roomie
