Gas Smell

Your rubber fuel lines are leaking. Cold = shrinks and leaks. Warm = expands and seals. Go to an auto store and buy FUEL INJECTION hose in the closest SAE inch size. Then size/replace the fuel lines from the fuel filter to the rail. Also replace the line that feeds fuel to the rear injector rails. Front side of the engine.

Thanks, that was simple. I probably would have gone to the dealer for that.

Speaking of fuel line, anyone know what size they are? I think the rail - rail is a smaller size than the filter to rail size if I am not mistaken.

I just swapped pumps on the 92SE, releived all the pressure but the drain anti drain back valve is so damn good that all the fuel that was in the lines above the tank and below the rail drained out all over the bench inside the car, I gotta get in there with some soap and water big time.

Fuel Smell
Hehe, I had the classic gas smell on those cold cold mornings. Almost brought it to the shop, then out of luck saw it pouring out of the fuel rail. Turns out, it was an incredibly simple problem. The rubber hose connecting the fuel rails on each side was leaking at the contact point between it(the rubber line) and the metal fuel rail, simply because the clips weren't screwed down tight enough where they meet(from a fuel injector replacement from the previous owner). So all that needed to be done was tighten them. Easy right? WRONG. I had to take off the entire manifold down to the fuel rail to tighted 4 screws, rediculous amount of work just to tighten 4 screws. Wasn't that hard, but took about 50 bucks in gaskets and about 7 hours of labor. Sorda makes me wanna beat the crap out of the guy that did the fuel injector replacement...
