I was driving on the highway last night and noticed a few surges in the RPM's @ 2000. Next my stereo started blinking on and off, and finally just cut off. In addition my headlights and fog lights became very dim, and the interior lights went dim as well. I was able to make it to the front of the house where when it reached a slow enough idle it just cut off. I was able to jump it to start it again, but as soon as I tried to turn the driving lights on, it cut off. The battery is about a year or two old, but definitely not dead. The alternator was replaced about 2-3 yrs. ago. I had to have the #4 fuel injector replaced in May of '99. I did wash the engine off around 2 weeks ago, but I can not think of why this is happening now. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Yup.. It's most likely your alternator. I bought a remanufactured one with lifetime warranty from OReilly's Auto Parts for $89. I have yet to see any place beat that price, not even having one rebuilt locally.
