Ve to Ve Swap Concerns

I found this 90 Max for a good price cuz it does not have an engine, but when I called the guy he told me that if I were to find one that he would put it in for me, the body is in good condition and he just rebuilt the transition last month. So I found an engine from this shop that is gonna give me a warrantee when I asked how if they could put it in they gave me a ridiculous price. What my question is how can I check to see if he put the engine in correctly, what to listen for, and what common mistakes ppl make doing the swap even though dude said its his 4th swap and do you guys think it’s a good deal cuz all in all it will be about $1100

1100 including the new engine isnt to bad but the 90 maxs only came with the VG engine so i assume you mean that instead of VE

just listen for any odd nioses theres only one way to install an engine and if hes done 4 you should be alright

I hope the engine you found isnt a VE as you elude to in your subject. A 90 needs a VG. Assuming the engine is in good shape, $1100 for a 90 with a rebuild trans and good body is a great price.

I didnt buy the engine yet, the body is a 90 gxe single cam. the shop told me that they have a single cam 91 engine, so i should just ask them if it is a VE engine? and can i still use that 91 engine and does it matter if i have a 5speed tranny?

SOHC = VG which is correct for your car and it will work just fine for the 5spd

Even if its a 91 engine it will still work for the 90

Why? Has anyone actually done the conversion before? Or can you change the ECU with it?

not worth it just get a 92-94 se and sell what ya got if you want one that bad. if not just swap in the VG. i will tell you now there is a VERY noticable difference in the cars. i drove a vg 5spd this past week and personally my VE 5spd will pounce it. off the line acceleration, highway lane passing, ect...so now its all about the money. personally when i was looking for my max i diddnt stop till i found a VE 5spd. however its not in everyones cards so do what you can afford and dont get the mod bug like we all have youll end up broke !
